Mentor Text Talk: "Reflecting on an Experience: The Monster of King's Island"

When thinking about what mentor text to talk about, my vision was cloudy. I did not have any bit of clue as to what I should speak upon. Honestly, I just started reading random ones. I found this particular one, and I could not stop reading it. I say that because usually I just stopped in the middle of every single one I read prior. However, this one was different. Not only did it bring a great message, but it had a writing style that I enjoyed. So many metaphors, so many images; it was perfect. I experienced the reader's thoughts as I kept reading, which made me feel as if I was the one experiencing it. The way the author wrapped it up at the end was more than perfect too. Instead of ending with the lesson, he expressed the lesson in the paragraph before the last. The last was continuing his experience on this monster of a roller coaster. At the end of the day, this mentor text teaches us to face our fears, because you never know what your mind can do.
